2024 Community Bike Rodeo

Enjoy a FREE, FUN-FILLED EVENT! At this educational, skills-based training for children using bicycles or scooters, learn lifelong bicycle skills, and increase your family’s basic bicycle knowledge in a safe, organized environment.

Saturday, May 11, 2024, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Located at Charlotte Wood Middle School Blacktop (600 El Capitan Drive, Danville)

Advanced reservations are requested and are available here!

  1. Reserve your space through Sign Up Genius.

  2. Fill out the Google Doc at PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION.

  3. Print and fill out the Activity Release for each participant (required). EACH PARTICIPANT must have this release submitted at check-in, or participation will not be granted. Additional copies will be available at check-in.

Space may be available on the day of the event on a first-come, first-served basis.  

Due to safety reasons, Bike Rodeo participation is only for children AGES 5 – 12. However, all family members are welcome as spectators.

No E-bikes, E-scooters or skateboards allowed at this event.

PLEASE BRING YOUR the participant waiver, OWN BIKE, MANUAL SCOOTER AND HELMET!

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED!

NOTE: Students can participate with training wheels attached. Unfortunately, individual (learn to ride) bike instruction will not be available.

At this skills-based, bicycle and scooter riding event, children can learn lifelong bicycle skills, and increase their basic bicycle knowledge in a safe, organized environment.

Featured activities include:

  • Check-in station: Register to receive a station/elements tag and backpack
  • Air and maintenance station: Learn tips from professional bicycle technicians from a local bike shop (TBA)
  • Bicycle Helmet Fitting Station: Hands-on helmet fitting (by parent) and adjusting verbal and visual instruction
  • Bicycle Safety Skills Course: Learn real-world skills needed to maneuver bicycles on roadways and trails
  • Course/activity completion prizes at check-out: for students 12 and under

Note: In order for everyone to have a safe and fun time, participants and spectators (including children and parents) are limited for each 50-minute time slot. Participants are recommended to arrive 15 minutes before the hour for check-in. All participants will have 50 minutes to enjoy the activities and complete the course.

Parents, guardians and older siblings, who also ride their bikes to the event, can enjoy complimentary “Bike Valet” Service provided by 511 Contra Costa, while younger children are participating in the activities. Bikes need to be picked up at the end of the assigned Bike Rodeo and Festival time slot.

(Participants cannot be left unattended. Parents must remain onsite until their child has finished the course.)
