{"id":4629,"date":"2020-09-16T22:42:58","date_gmt":"2020-09-16T22:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/street-smarts.com\/?page_id=4629"},"modified":"2020-10-19T17:05:21","modified_gmt":"2020-10-19T17:05:21","slug":"walk-and-roll-with-street-smarts","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/walk-and-roll-with-street-smarts\/","title":{"rendered":"San Ramon Valley Street Smarts &#8220;Walk and Roll with Street Smarts!&#8221; Poster Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2>October is National Walk\/Bike Month, and Street Smarts is having a Poster Contest! <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Street Smarts is inviting all elementary school age students to enter the <strong><em>\u201cWalk and Roll with Street Smarts\u201d<\/em><\/strong> Poster Contest to <strong>win great prizes<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Posters will be judged by local elected officials and community partners. The two top winning posters, in each grade level, will be displayed on Street Smarts Banners throughout the community and marking materials. We look forward to seeing your creative poster! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Details and Eligibility:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>All elementary school students attending or residing in the San Ramon Valley are eligible to participate.<\/li><li>Poster Contest begins October 5, 2020<\/li><li>Drawings due by <strong><u>4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020 (no exceptions)<\/u><\/strong><\/li><li>Two winners in the following grade levels will be selected:<ul><li>Kindergarten \u2013 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Grade<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>3<sup>rd<\/sup> Grade \u2013 5<sup>th<\/sup> Grade<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Winners will be notified by email by Thursday, November 19, 2020<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>To Enter:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Fill out Entry Form with your name, email, grade level\u00a0 and school name (only one student per entry)<\/li><li>Fill out and have parent sign <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/2020\/10\/street-smarts-poster-contest-entry-and-release-form\/\" target=\"_blank\">Entry and Release Form. <\/a>Entries submitted without release form are not eligible.\u00a0<\/li><li>Draw and color a Traffic Safety themed illustration on a white 8 \u00bd x 11 piece of paper or card stock. Ideas should include bike, scooter, skateboard or pedestrian safety <\/li><li><strong>Include Street Smarts logo (required) <\/strong>\u00a0(Logo provided at street-smarts.com \u201cEvents\u201d)<\/li><li>Hand draw your artwork and use rich colors for reproduction<\/li><li><strong>Submit your entry no later than 4p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2020<\/strong><\/li><li>Keep original artwork, which will be used for scanning and marketing purposes, if artwork is selected.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Avoid the following:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Using paper larger than 8 \u00bd x 11<\/li><li>Using computer to create the artwork<\/li><li>Working with others or parents<\/li><li>Creating and using 3D effects<\/li><li>Using other people\u2019s artwork (magazines, stickers or any copyrighted material)<\/li><li>Using pencils for outlining artwork<\/li><li>Files larger than 20 GB<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Artwork will be judged on:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Originality<\/li><li>Visual design and composition<\/li><li>Storytelling ability \u2013 Does the image portray the message?<\/li><li>Clear communication of the selected theme \u2013 \u201cWalk and Roll with Street Smarts!\u201d<ul><li>\u201cWalk\u201d examples include, but not limited to:<ul><li>Pedestrians crossing the street at a crosswalk<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Students crossing the street at a crosswalk in front of the school<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Pedestrians walking their dog<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u201cRoll\u201d examples include, but not limited to:<ul><li>Riding a bike with a helmet<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Riding a scooter with a helmet and pads<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Riding a skateboard with a helmet and pads<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>How to submit your artwork:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Read the guidelines listed on <a href=\"\/walk-and-roll-with-street-smarts\/\">\/walk-and-roll-with-street-smarts\/<\/a><\/li><li>Upload your 8 \u00bd x 11 artwork and release form through this link: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/spaces.hightail.com\/uplink\/streetsmarts-postercontest\" target=\"_blank\">High Tail: Street Smarts Poster Entry<\/a><ul><li><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong> <ul><li><strong>1.<\/strong> When uploading your poster, name the <strong>FILE <\/strong>your &#8216;<strong>STUDENT\u2019S NAME<\/strong>&#8216; POSTER. For example: Jane Doe Poster<\/li><li><strong>2.<\/strong> When uploading the release form, name the <strong>FILE<\/strong> your <strong>\u2018STUDENT\u2019S NAME\u2019 RELEASE<\/strong>. For Example: Jane Doe Release<\/li><li><strong>Upload both to the High Tail link above. <\/strong>You are welcome to also note the student&#8217;s name in the comments section.
